What strength/tool did ABWA uncover and build for you professionally or personally? I've learned to open up more and trust that there are women want to care about each other, not compete or put each other down.​

Vicki Marlett

Vicki Marlett celebrates her 25th anniversary with ABWA this year. She has served in every chapter/express network leadership role – as well as District II Vice President, National Vice President and National President. She is 2009 Top Ten Business Woman of ABWA and served as the first President of the ABW Foundation.

After 30 years with Verizon, Vicki went on to work for Microsoft and then the oil and gas industry. Currently, Vicki occupies her time with ABWA and being a full time Scentsy Independent Consultant and recently, fulfilling a lifelong love of the arts by embarking in a new career of voice over acting with plans to expand that pursuit in the future. In addition to music, old movies, slot machines, plus cruising with her ABWA sisters, she loves writing and is currently compiling her original poetry collection and a lifetime of random thoughts into her first book this year.

What have you gained by being a member of ABWA? Coming from a purely Education background as a high school and college math instructor, I have gained a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of business and networking.

What strength/tool did ABWA uncover and build for you professionally or personally? ABWA has not only allowed but encouraged me to learn and experiment with Social Media Promotion and Email Marketing Communication in Business!

Janice Curry
Janice Curry is a Strategic Account Pricing Manager in Semiconductors for Texas Instruments Inc. She has been in ABWA for 20 years and is currently serving as Membership Chair for the Charisma Charter Chapter, Lakeside Leaders and the Dallas Area Council of ABWA. Her biggest benefit in being a leader in ABWA is learning from a diverse group of individuals and seeing her ABWA sister’s potential and assisting them in reaching it. For what is good for one, can make a difference for her league and organization.

Kathy Swanson
Kathy Swanson is currently the Vice-chair for DACA. Her career has been as a Registered Nurse and Kathy has been in the Nursing industry for nearly 44 years. She has held a variety of Nursing jobs including working in a Doctor's office, a hospital, in Home Healthcare, as a Case Manager, in Hospice, Sales, and for the last 4 yrs as a Clinical Nurse Educator working with Multiple Sclerosis patients. Kathy has been working in "non-traditional" positions since 1991, a year before moving to Texas. Fairly late in my career she discovered that teaching and training was her preferred part of Nursing. Kathy has been a member of ABWA since 2009 and has held an office most of those years. She has been married for 32 years, and she has 2 grown daughters and 5 Grandchildren!

Valerie has been in the banking and financial services industry for fifteen years. Valerie credits the ABWA for the opportunities that it provides to learn and enhance business skills. During leisure time, Valerie enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also likes traveling to different countries and hiking through nature.
